Obverse symbol

A blue frame decorated with abstract shapes in which the "5" values are presented. Multicolour printing known as "rainbow printing". On the left is an illustration of the "Coat of Arms of Canada" and on the right is a portrait of Sir Henry Charles Wilfrid Laurier, statesman, Canada's seventh Prime Minister from 1896 to 1911 and the first francophone to hold this position.

In the middle is a scene of salmon fishing boats in Johnstone Strait on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. To the right and left are abstract forms in which the values "5", "FIVE" and "CINQ" are shown. At the bottom of the note, the serial number (a sequence of 11 digits) is noted twice.
