Obverse symbol

Printing, predominantly blue, green and purple. Texts in French. Frame composed of repeating guilloche shapes with the value “1000” repeated in the corners. On the upper border, the issuing institute “BANQUE CENTRALE DU CONGO BELGE ET DU RUANDA-URUNDI”, then the date of issue in black and below, the value “MILLE FRANCS”, the words “PAYABLE A VUE” and the signatures printed in black. A security background is made up of small repeating intertwined scrolls and an aerial view of a current African village. On the left, an official portrait of King Baudouin in Lieutenant-General's uniform. The series and number of the banknote are printed four times in black in the corners. On the right, the watermark. At the bottom, the article of the penal code is printed on two lines at the edge of the frame.
