It is the national monument of Bangladesh, set up in the memory of those who died in the Bangladesh War of Independence of 1971, which brought independence and separated Bangladesh from Pakistan. The monument is located in Savar, about 35 km north-west of the capital, Dhaka.

Kusumba Mosque (Bengali: কুসুম্বা শাহী মসজিদ) is a mosque in Manda Upazila of Naogaon District of Bangladesh. This mosque can be found in the village of Kusumba, which is its namesake. It was built in 1558–59 and is one of Bangladesh's three national heritages sites. The mosque is often nicknamed "The Black Gem of Bangladesh".
