Obverse symbol

A black and white frame made of decorative shapes and including the value of the banknote "1" & "ONE". In the middle, a representation of Britannia wearing a shield and pointing on Canada on a globe. An owl, a dove, and a cherub holding a caduceus complete the central illustration. On the left, a portrait of the French navigator and explorer Jacques Cartier and on the right, within a decorative form the value "1". At the top center the words "Dominion of Canada" and on either side the serial number.
