Obverse symbol

Front and back printing, predominantly brown, light blue and yellow. Texts in French. Security background and frame composed of repeating guilloche patterns with the value “5000” repeated in the corners. On the upper edge, the issuing institute “BANQUE DU CONGO BELGE”. Below, a large Congolese star printed in yellow, the value “FIVE THOUSAND FRANCS” and the words “PAYABLE ON SIGHT”. On the left in a medallion, the portrait of a young indigenous woman wearing a scarf. On the right, the watermark surrounded by a view of the banks of a river with a stranded canoe. The signatures are printed in brown above a large colored rosette. The article of the penal code is printed in white on one line in the frame.
