Penalty text, vertical reversing type inscription in regular script in center-right cartouche, surrounded by guilloché. Inscriptions with guilloché background in center. Denomination 'YEN' and '5' on five-petal-flower-shaped guilloché on top-left corner; denomination '5' and 'YEN' on five-petal-flower-shaped guilloché on bottom-right corner; denomination in Chinese seal script on five-petal-flower-shaped guilloché on top-right corner and bottom-left corner. Flowers motifs scroll alternating Fundō with vertical inscription in Chinese seal script "五圓" inside, in the frame. Seal of Governor of Bank of Japan, depicting symbol of Bank of Japan dividing inscription in Chinese seal script into four parts, reads right-to-left, inside decorated circle. Left-parted Seal Director of Document Department, depicting vertical reversing type inscription in Chinese clerical script, flanked by dragons motifs, inside circle, at center-right edge outside main frame.

Sakura cherry blossoms surround. Red director of treasury seal, depicting vertical inscription in Chinese clerical script inside rectangle, flanked by dragons motifs, inside double circles, at bottom left.
