Obverse symbolThe illustrations of this banknote pay tribute to the rock art bequeathed to us by the Tassili N'Ajjer National Park located in the wilaya of Illizi. Carrying the theme of "the history of Algeria, prehistoric period" the front side of the bill which illustrates rock engravings in the center, represents on the right the "Baballus Antiqus", a species of prehistoric buffalo extinct that existed in the temperate Sahara before desertification. The prehistoric buffalo refers to one of the earliest periods of North African rock art, called the "Bubalin.
The hologram shows the inscription "Bank" in the national language at one angle and the busts of "Emir Abdelkader" and "Jugurta" looking to the left. Tilting the banknote, the hologram shows the inscription "Algeria" in the national language and the busts of "Emir Abdelkader" and "Jugurta" looking to the right.
